How to use Tinder on your PC or Mac

You don't need an app or an emulator to use Tinder on a computer. Tinder runs in the browser at tinder.com, with the same account, matches and messages as on your phone. Here's how to log in, how to fix the most common problem (the wrong location), and what's different from the app.

Can you use Tinder on a computer?

Yes. Tinder launched its web version, first called Tinder Online, in 2017. Today tinder.com works in desktop browsers such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS. It's free to use, and if you pay for Tinder Plus, Gold or Platinum, that subscription belongs to your account, so it works on the web too.

How to log in to Tinder on the web

  1. Open tinder.com in your browser and choose Log in.
  2. Pick the same method you use on your phone: your phone number, or Google, Facebook or Apple where they're offered. A different method can create a second, empty account.
  3. Enter the code Tinder sends you, if it asks for one.
  4. Allow location access when the browser asks. Tinder can't show you people nearby without it.

Your profile, matches and chats appear just as they do on your phone, and a change on one device shows up on the other.

Is there a Tinder app for Windows or Mac?

On a computer, Tinder's own way in is the website. There's nothing to install, so be careful with "Tinder for PC" downloads offered by other sites. Running the Android app in an emulator isn't necessary either: the website does the same job.

Tinder on PC shows the wrong location: how to fix it

On a computer, Tinder uses the location your browser reports. Desktops and most laptops have no GPS, so the browser estimates where you are from nearby Wi-Fi networks and your internet connection. The estimate can be a few kilometres off, or put you in another city entirely. If Tinder shows you people from the wrong area:

  • Allow location for tinder.com. In Chrome, click the icon to the left of the address, open Site settings and set Location to Allow. Tinder's help center has the steps for Chrome, Safari and Firefox.
  • Turn on your computer's location services. Windows: Settings › Privacy & security › Location. Mac: System Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services, then allow your browser.
  • Switch off any VPN or proxy. They make your connection look as if it comes from somewhere else.
  • Reload tinder.com after changing anything, so Tinder picks up the new location.
  • Want another city on purpose? Tinder's Passport feature, included in Tinder Plus, Gold and Platinum, sets your location officially.

Tinder web vs the phone app

The basics are the same: swiping, matches, messages, your profile and your settings. Some things are nicer on a computer, like typing long messages on a real keyboard and seeing photos on a bigger screen. Tinder sometimes launches features in the app first and changes what's available over time, so if you can't find something on the web, check the app.

Keyboard shortcuts on tinder.com

Tinder's web version has had keyboard controls since it launched:

KeyWhat it does
→ Right arrowLike
← Left arrowNope
↑ Up arrowOpen the profile
↓ Down arrowClose the profile
EnterSuper Like
SpaceNext photo

Tinder can change these at any time, so treat the list as a starting point.

Auto-liking on Tinder web

Because tinder.com runs in a normal browser, Chrome extensions can work with it. That includes auto swipers such as SwipeBoost, which we make: it presses the like button for you while the tab is open. Tinder's terms don't allow tools like this, so read what can happen to your account first. If you still want to try it, here's how to auto swipe on Tinder.

FAQ

Is Tinder web free?

Yes. Using tinder.com costs nothing. The same paid plans are offered as in the app, and a subscription belongs to your account, so it applies on the web too.

Can I use Tinder on my laptop and my phone with the same account?

Yes. Log in on both with the same method. Matches, messages and settings are stored in your account, so they show up on both.

Why does Tinder on my PC show the wrong location?

Computers have no GPS, so the browser estimates your location from Wi-Fi and your internet connection, and a VPN can move it to another city. Allow location for tinder.com, turn on your computer's location services, switch off any VPN, then reload the page.

Can I download Tinder on Windows or Mac?

On a computer, Tinder's own way in is the website, tinder.com. You don't need to download anything, and you should be careful with 'Tinder for PC' downloads from other sites.

Do likes on Tinder web count toward the like limit?

Yes. The like limit belongs to your account, not your device, so likes on the web and on your phone come out of the same allowance.
