Can you get banned on Tinder for auto swiping?
Short answer: yes, it's possible. We make an auto swiper, so we'd rather you hear the honest version from us than find out the hard way. Here's what Tinder's terms say, what can happen, and what nobody outside Tinder knows.
What Tinder's Terms of Use say
Tinder's Terms of Use (the version effective 5 March 2026) list things members agree not to do. Two of them apply directly to auto swipers:
- Section 2c, item 16: no using any robot or other "manual or automatic device" to access or use the service.
- Section 2c, item 22: no using third-party applications or services that directly interact with Tinder without its written consent.
An auto swiper is a third-party tool that presses buttons on Tinder for you, so it falls under both. Section 9 then says Tinder can suspend, terminate or ban an account it believes has broken the terms, without a refund.
What can actually happen
The terms give Tinder the right to suspend, terminate or ban an account, and they say paid features aren't refunded in that case. Tinder doesn't publish how it enforces this, how often, or what triggers it.
Can Tinder detect auto swipers?
We don't know, and neither does anyone else outside Tinder. Forums are full of confident claims in both directions, but they're anecdotes, not data. We don't publish "avoid detection" tricks, and you should be wary of any tool that calls itself undetectable: it's making a promise it can't keep.
Does auto-liking hurt your profile?
Tinder says it no longer uses the old Elo score. Its matching looks at things like how active you are, distance, your preferences, your profile, and how Likes and Nopes are given and received. Tinder hasn't said that giving many likes lowers your visibility. It did add the free like limit back in 2015 to discourage swiping right on everyone. For the trade-offs of liking (almost) everyone, see should you swipe right on everyone?
How SwipeBoost handles the risk
- Normal speed is the default: about 2 likes a second. No speed or timing pattern makes auto-liking allowed or removes the risk.
- It respects Tinder's like limit. It stops when Tinder says you're out of likes and doesn't try to get around it.
- It only presses the like button and closes "It's a Match" popups. It doesn't read or send messages, or look at your matches or profile.
- No guarantees. If Tinder acts on your account, SwipeBoost can't undo it, and we say so on our homepage, in the store listing and in the extension.
If your account gets banned
If you think it was a mistake, contact Tinder through its help center. Don't open a new account to get around a ban: the terms forbid that too (section 2c, item 26).
So should you use an auto swiper?
That's your call. Many people use them, but nobody can promise your account won't be affected. If your Tinder account matters a lot to you, for example years of matches or a paid plan, weigh that first. If you decide to try it, here's how auto swiping works.
FAQ
Is it against Tinder's rules to use an auto swiper?
Yes. Tinder's Terms of Use forbid using robots or other automatic devices with the service (section 2c, item 16) and using third-party apps or services that directly interact with Tinder without its written consent (item 22).
Can Tinder detect auto swipers?
Nobody outside Tinder knows exactly what it looks for. Be wary of any tool that promises to be undetectable: that's a promise it can't keep.
Will Tinder ban me for swiping too fast?
Tinder can suspend or ban accounts it believes break its terms, and it doesn't publish any speed thresholds. No speed makes an auto swiper allowed, and going slower doesn't make it safe.
Is a Tinder ban permanent?
It can be. Tinder's terms allow it to ban accounts, and they don't let you create a new account afterwards without Tinder's written permission (section 2c, item 26).
Do I get my money back if Tinder bans me?
Tinder's terms say it can suspend, terminate or ban an account without a refund (section 9). For SwipeBoost passes, see our refund policy.
